Azathioprine? What are people's experiences with this medication?

Post autor: sirikonta » 19 mar 2022, 17:26

Hi there

First post here. I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in March after having a three month flare up that left me severely anaemic. Although mesalazine briefly worked with prednisolone https://speedtest.vet/ https://vidmate.bid/ , I've continued to flare and have recently been told I need to be moved onto azathioprine starting tomorrow (if my bloods have come back okay that is). After speaking to my Gastro last week he told me to go away and do some reading on the medication, and from what I have read I'm scared to say the least. I was just wondering about the experiences of anybody on this sub whilst using this medication and how it's affected their lives both positive and negative.

Thanks in advance, any information from real experience would be wonderful at this point as I feel like I'm facing a horrible decision between dangerous medication and surgery!
